    NHS AfC: Band 5

We’re a large NHS Mental Health

We’re a large NHS Mental Health Trust in South East England. We’re looking for people to help us provide high quality services for the patients, carers and local communities we serve.

We want patients and staff to recommend our organisation as a place where they would be happy for their friends and family to be treated. You can help us do this by bringing your skills, experience and commitment to Sussex Partnership.

We are recruiting newly qualified and experienced mental health nurses!

We are looking for Band 5 Nurses to join our  friendly in-patient team  within our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) . No previous CAMHS experience required.

This post offers The Trust's Golden Hello for band 5 or 6 Nurses, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).

Chalkhill Hospital is a modern , purpose built 16 bedded facility located in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. We are the only NHS Tier 4 C.A.M.H.S.  in-patient service in Sussex and  offer a unique and rewarding  experience supporting young people to recover at a critical time in their development so they have the best chance to succeed  in life. You will be working primarily on our in-patient ward. We also have a Health Based Place of Safety for young people detained under section 136 of the Mental Health Act attached to the ward.  You will develop a broad range of skills supporting young people experiencing low mood, OCD, autism, eating disorders, emotional difficulties and  psychosis.

If you have not previously worked in CAMHS, don't worry! Many of your skills from other acute settings will be transferable and we will provide training to meet any learning needs identified in your appraisal.

    Preceptorship CAMHS Nurses:

We know that taking up your first job as a nurse is both exciting and scary.  Your transition from student to registered nurse is one of the biggest leaps you will ever make in your nursing career. But you don’t have to do it alone. Our preceptorship programme is designed specifically for you as a newly qualified nurse, to support you in that transition.

We want you to feel equipped with the right skills to become a brilliant nurse. We will help, support and nurture you to become the best you can be. We will help you to develop in confidence as a nursing professional, enhance your skills and continue your journey of life-long learning.

Our preceptorship programme is also a great opportunity to map out your continuing professional development and consider how you want to progress your career as a nurse. You will reflect on and evaluate your role and identity as a nurse, and when you need that extra bit of support to help you through, we'll be here for you alongside your multi-disciplinary team. The programme is designed and delivered by senior mental health professionals and peer trainers – people with lived experience of mental health services. Through supervision and assessment you are supported to practice safely and build your confidence during your first 12 months as a newly qualified nurse.

    Experienced Nurses

Do you fancy a change?  We are really keen to receive applications from existing band 5 Staff Nurses working in other areas. You will have many transferable skills that you can use within a CAMHS setting and you will be supported to broaden these further including risk assessment and crisis management skills.

We are also recruiting to Band 6 Charge Nurse posts.

You will have the opportunity to work in true partnership with young people and their families - engaging, supporting and developing relationships which really enables the recovery process. With a real commitment to improving care delivery, as part of our multi disciplinary team, you will be supporting quality improvements and initiatives that will enhance young people's  experiences.

We understand that looking after our staff's health and well-being leads to safer services and better experiences for our young people, and so actively promote supervision, reflection, training opportunities and team away days. We are always looking for different ways to support our staff and, for example, are currently offering free acupuncture sessions.

We are located  just 20 minutes away from Brighton, and are extremely fortunate to have both the seaside and the Sussex Downs National Park on our doorstep. The opportunity to relax outdoors has been invaluable to us all during the pandemic.

We receive consistent feedback from both substantive and temporary staff that we are a really compassionate,  friendly and fun team to work with. So, come and join us!

Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have been rated as ‘Outstanding’ for caring by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and ‘Good’ overall.
