    Solicitor / Senior Solicitor

    Location: Stratford, London (1-2 days in the office per week)

     

    Full-time (part-time considered)

     

    Salary: £45,000 - £60,00 depending on experience

    We're currently looking for an experienced Solicitor to join our Legal team. In this important role, you will provide essential legal and compliance support to the business, ensuring among other things that everyone across the organisation is working to the same guidelines and contracts. We are enablers in supporting CRUK to achieve its fundraising and research goals by partnering with all areas of CRUK to ensure we achieve maximum organisational performance.

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Provide timely, proactive, pragmatic, high quality and commercial legal advice and solutions to the organization, in particular to the: Marketing, Fundraising & Engagement; Strategy & Philanthropy; Policy, Information & Communications; and COO Directorates (especially the Technology Team)
    • Work on a broad range of commercial contracts including technology contracts, goods and services contracts, sponsorship agreements, events and sports agreements, fundraising agreements and prize draw and website terms and conditions
    • Build a good understanding of business areas, establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal clients
    • Manage own work and have sole responsibility for matters and escalate to Senior Solicitors/Head of Legal where necessary
    • Carry out drafting and negotiating and assist clients with other queries and commercial transactions
    • Identify, advise on and ensure good contract management practice, to embed the various policies and programmes designed to ensure contractual, corporate and legislative compliance

    Skills & Experience:

     

    • Relevant post-qualification experience in-house and/or in private practice
    • Ability to be prepared and to quickly develop a good understanding of new legal areas and issues which affect the organisation
    • Solution-focused and pragmatic approach
    • Ability to convey legal issues in a clear and simple way and to identify, articulate and evaluate key issues and risks
    • Interest in charity law and commercial contracts
    • Interest in marketing and advertising is desirable
    • Good drafting skills with experience of drafting and negotiating a variety of agreements
    • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse and extensive workload under pressure to meet short deadlines
