The Role:
Hampshire County Council is recognised nationally as one of the highest performing local authorities in the UK. A forward-looking local authority, it offers a pleasant working environment, flexible working, an excellent work/life balance, a commitment to training and development and a central and well-connected Head Office location in the heart of the city of Winchester. We are a well- respected, supportive and friendly team, providing advice on adults' health and social care including public health and education including Special Educational Needs.
Managing the close-knit team of 8, you will ensure exemplary legal services are being provided with a focus on excellent communication, client care and the building of strong working relationships. Advising on a wide variety of legal matters and allocating resources, you will share your expertise and develop the skills of team members. You will also promote a commercially minded culture in which opportunities will be explored and new clients will be secured. This is an important period of transformation for us, so you will establish the relevant cultural and behavioural change. As a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent, you will have relevant post qualification experience in the areas of adult social care and/or education law. Experience in providing advocacy would be an advantage but is not essential.
What we can offer you:
Here at Hampshire Legal Services, we pride ourselves on the breadth and depth of the difference we can make. We enable the County Council to make positive changes and deliver more for residents across the County. Already one of the largest local authority legal teams in the country, the demand for our services is increasing and this is creating new opportunities. This role offers the chance to work at the heart of Local Government and to contribute towards the vision for Hampshire County Council's future.
Hampshire County Council offers excellent benefits, including access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, family friendly policies and flexible working. We envisage that this role can be carried out largely remotely but with some office-based working required to support business needs.
