The Centre for Drug Development (CDD) is a directorate that works with Scientists, Clinicians and companies to develop effective new anti-cancer treatments in Phase I and II clinical trials. We're looking for a highly experienced, proactive Medical Advisor to join our team, to work at the cutting edge, provide expert medical advice, and be responsible for strategic project input including study design.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual with either experience working in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry or a CCT in oncology. Someone who is dedicated and passionate about using their skills and knowledge to help beat cancer and save millions of lives.

You should be medically qualified with previous oncology experience. Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) to practice medicine in the UK is essential.

As a Medical Lead you will:

    • Provide expert and timely medical advice within Centre for Drug Development (CDD) and to be responsible for the medical input into allocated projects, including the clinical aspects of regulatory documents and interpretation of emerging clinical and preclinical data
    • Be accountable for the broader clinical strategy and development of agents (at both clinical and preclinical stages), in particular the design of CDD trials for allocated projects
    • Give medical input to cross-functional teams, including playing an active role in operational management, assessment of new project applications and ongoing portfolio management
    • Represent Cancer Research UK (CR-UK) drug development activities both internally and externally and attend external meetings and conferences to promote the CDD

    We need someone who has:

    • Current Registration with the General Medical Council to practice medicine in the UK
    • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent
    • Experience of working on Phase I and/or Phase II studies in oncology, gained either through working as an investigator/co-investigator on oncology trials or as a Medical Advisor/Monitor with direct responsibility for oncology trials
    • Working knowledge of UK and EU clinical trial regulations

    What will I gain?

Without you we wouldn't be able to achieve our aim of seeing 3 in 4 people survive cancer by 2034. So, we want to reward you in as many ways as possible. Our benefits package includes discounts on anything from travel to technology, generous holiday allowance, and much more. We want to ensure that you have the best work/life balance possible, so we actively encourage a flexible working culture for all our roles wherever possible. You'll also be able to access a wide range of learning and development opportunities. And ultimately, you'll know that you'll be changing lives through your work.

If this sounds like you then we are keen to hear from you! If you can demonstrate the above and want to make an impact, then we'd love to have you join the team.
