    Lead Dietitian

    We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

    We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public.     We have an exciting developmental opportunity an enthusiastic Registered Dietitian to join our already established Children's Community Eating Disorders Services in the Durham and Darlington region. We are looking for a motivated experienced Specialist Dietitian wanting to expand and further develop their leadership and management skills within a dynamic and forward thinking eating disorder service.

    Candidates should be a Registered Dietitian with substantial clinical experience in dietetics, and a keen interest in development and knowledge of the national drivers for Eating Disorders. A desire to achieve change and implement redesign based on best practice is essential.

    The clinical aspect of this role covers the Durham and Darlington locality.  We provide full assessment of nutritional needs; provide input to formulation meetings and management of physical health. Involvement would also include supporting supervision and development of policies and procedures, highlighting the specialist dietetic knowledge that may be included.

    In addition to the wide range of clinical duties the post holder will provide clinical leadership in the specialist field of Eating Disorders and provide clinical supervision. There will be the opportunity to participate in service development, audit, research activities, pathway development and ongoing training needs of the clinical teams.

    We have regular speciality team meetings to develop skills and provide peer support. We can provide training and support to engage with the complex needs of the patient group. We work closely with other health professionals colleagues and often deliver joint care work.

    We are part of a wider dietetic team which covers adult mental health, children and young people, services for older people, learning disabilities and forensic services. We are supported by our Professional Head of Dietetic Services and several high skilled Lead Dietitians. Our Dietetic Team is the largest and most established Specialist Mental Health/LD dietetic team in the UK and has strong links with the British Dietetic Association.

    We have a robust clinical and management supervision structure and support and promote continued professional training and development.
