Do you want to make a positive difference to the lives of others across Hampshire?

The Economy, Transport and Environment Department at Hampshire County Council is seeking to grow its Scheme Development team, to deliver even better outcomes for the residents and businesses of Hampshire. We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced transport planners and client managers, who can work independently in a fast-paced environment to develop transport improvement schemes and help deliver a substantial and broad portfolio of infrastructure investment.

You will be required to manage your workload effectively with minimal supervision, while managing multi-disciplinary project teams. You could be involved in leading the development of major transport schemes and projects from inception through to detailed design, and in shaping strategies and policies for the future. Developing a robust transport evidence base and progressing bids for scheme funding are key tasks, as well as securing funding through the DfT business case process and liaising with a wide range of key stakeholders.

We have one Principal Transport Planner post available in the Scheme Development team covering the northern parts of Hampshire including Basingstoke, Farnborough, Andover and Winchester.

This is an important role within the broader Integrated Transport team during an exciting time as it helps shape and design future transformational improvements to the transport networks in the County, particularly in the context of the emerging climate change agenda. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team that in recent years have successfully increased the levels of funding for transport fourfold. You will report to the Transport Team Leader and the Head of Integrated Transport in the ETE Department.

This opportunity would suit individuals with a broad transport planning background, including experience of developing large transport projects and co-ordinating multiple professional disciplines and contractors. At a technical level the individual should also have an expert level of understanding of transport scheme development and the Government business case and bidding processes.

If you are interested in this opportunity and want to be part of a strong and successful team, then we would be interested to hear from you.
