Gibraltar frontier workers

On the occasion of Brexit, the European Union and the United Kingdom signed an international treaty called the Withdrawal Agreement, which seeks to protect and guarantee citizens' rights, including the right of residence, the right to work and the recognition of professional qualifications.

The Withdrawal Agreement establishes a transitional period until 31 December 2020 during which European law will continue to be fully applicable. Thus, until that date, the situation will remain unchanged for citizens, workers, consumers, businesses, investors, students and researchers, both in the European Union and in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar.

Furthermore, under the Withdrawal Agreement, as from 1 January 2021, all frontier workers within the scope of the Agreement may continue to enjoy the same labour rights as they were recognised before that date.
