Quality in Public Administration

Today, quality is an indisputable attribute at the core of public management. The Ministry of Employment and Social Economy, which is committed to improving the economic and social levels of our society, both because of the characteristics of its services and the type of functions performed by its Units, has played an important role in the quality actions included in the different improvement plans of the General State Administration.

The results achieved in terms of accessibility to public services, the reduction of processing and waiting times, the simplification of procedures, the elimination of non-essential formalities and the promotion of electronic administration, among others, stand out for their positive effects on the relationship with citizens and entrepreneurs.

The awards and recognitions obtained by units of the National Institute of Social Security, the General Treasury of Social Security, the Social Marine Institute and the Department of Employment and Social Security in Switzerland should be highlighted.

In the new environment designed by Royal Decree 951/2005, of 29 July 2005, establishing the General Framework for Quality Improvement in the General State Administration, the Undersecretariat of the Department has issued the Instruction of 23 February 2006, regarding the programmes and actions for improving the Quality of Public Services within the scope of the Ministry of Employment and Social Economy, in order to facilitate and promote the development of the programmes in which the improvement goals and objectives established in said regulation are specified.
