The
European Commission has a formula permitting the use of special
media to carry out measures of special interest for the Community.
Said formula is implemented by means of the so-called Community
Initiatives, which are reserved for actions of an innovative nature
and for which 5.35% of credits committed for Structural Funds are
available. Of these, Spain has been assigned approximately 18% of
the total Community allocation for the period 2000-2006.
Innovation for this period is embodied in the
presentation of a single initiative called Equal,
which encompasses the projects of the previous five for the period
1994-1999.
