The Subdirectorate General for Self-Employment is pleased to present its latest monthly and quarterly statistical data on self-employment.
Regarding the source and methodology, the General Treasury of Social Security provides the information from the files of individuals affiliated with the various self-employed Social Security programmes: Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA, standing for Régimen Especial de Trabajadores Autónomos) and Special Scheme for Seafarers (RETM, standing for Régimen Especial de Trabajadores del Mar).
Following an analysis of the available data, we conducted a cross-checking process of the relevant variables, resulting in the production of updated statistical tables and graphs on self-employment.
In consequence of the circumstances, a monthly statistical report is published, containing statistical data on self-employed workers. This report allows the reader to consult a summary of the monthly variations and a historical evolution. Furthermore, additional sections are available which provide data by Autonomous Communities, sectors and groups.
Quarterly statistics are made available for consultation, providing statistical data on self-employed workers. This information is presented in three documents: a summary of the results, complete statistics, and a profile of self-employed workers by Autonomous Community.

As of 1 January 2024, a single statistic is compiled monthly with the objective of studying the self-employed persons affiliated to Social Security, both in the Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) and the Special Scheme for Seafarers (RETM).
The data is presented in several ways, including by regime, group, sex, age, nationality, autonomous community and province, sector, section and division of the CNAE, contribution base and seniority, among others.
The information provided is monthly and refers to the whole of Spain.
