Methodology

The Subdirectorate General for Self-Employment publishes monthly and quarterly statistics on self-employment.

As for the source and methodology, the General Treasury of the Social Security provides the information from the files of persons affiliated to the different self-employed Social Security schemes: Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers (RETA and MAR).

Based on this information, we carried out a cross-checking process of the available variables, producing tables and graphs containing updated statistical data on self-employed persons. For more information on methodology, click here.

On the one hand, a monthly statistic is published containing statistical data on self-employed workers, where you can consult a summary of the monthly variations and a historical evolution. You can also see other sections that offer data by Autonomous Communities, sectors and groups.

In addition, a more complete set of statistics is published quarterly, where you can consult statistical data on self-employed workers, broken down into three documents providing information on the summary of results, complete statistics and profile of self-employed workers by Autonomous Community.
