Ensuring gender equality in self-employment

The promotion of gender equality in self-employment is a cross-cutting objective of the "National Strategy for the Promotion of Self-Employment 2022-2027". This is also an axis which in order to be achieved calls for actions in different areas: promotion and strengthening of the care economy; promotion of work-family reconciliation measures for self-employed workers; equal access to sources of financing and entrepreneurship; combating discrimination in the remuneration received or in access to positions of greater responsibility, etc. Positive action measures will also be promoted where necessary and the participation of women and women-owned or led businesses will be facilitated. This implies the collection of sex-disaggregated data, in order to have a clear understanding of the starting situation and to set realistic targets to be reached.
