The European Union seeks to give greater weight and importance to youth entrepreneurship in social enterprises, addressing different aspects, among which the following stand out:
To contribute to these objectives, Component number 23 of the RTRP, 'New public policies for a dynamic, resilient and inclusive labour market', develops Investment 6, the 'Integral plan to boost the Social Economy for the generation of an inclusive and sustainable economic fabric'. Within this Plan, several programmes are outlined in "Programme 2: INITIATIVE_EN. Projects for the creation and consolidation of enterprises in the Social Economy’s productive fabric with an innovative character, focusing on generational change and youth entrepreneurship', the most relevant in terms of youth entrepreneurship.
For this reason, the Social Economy Special Commission has initiated a competitive bidding process for the design of three manuals. The objective is to promote youth entrepreneurship in the Social Economy within the educational sector. This initiative forms part of the broader Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
The contract's objective is to design three manuals for the promotion and visibility of entrepreneurship in the social economy. The target audience for these manuals includes students in formal education, specifically those in primary education, non-compulsory secondary education and higher education.
The purpose of these manuals is to transfer the concept of social economy, as well as the values and principles it represents, to young people from primary to higher education. Young entrepreneurship can be defined as the attitude and aptitude to initiate a project, capitalising on ideas and opportunities, and demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity.
Promoting entrepreneurship among children and young people is an essential step in fostering autonomy and self-improvement. This approach also encourages the generation of ideas in various situations, honing the ability to be proactive and take risks. The advantages of this approach are numerous, including fostering creativity, confidence and positive thinking, as well as enhancing conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
In line with Line of Action 2 of the Spanish Social Economy Strategy 2023-2027, they aim to promote the recognition of the Social Economy (SE) among society, with a greater focus on young people in this case.
To facilitate access for the economically disadvantaged, particularly young people, to these new entrepreneurial initiatives, Line of Action 11 has been developed. This initiative’s objective is to increase the presence of SE in new entrepreneurial initiatives. In this regard, specific non-university training programmes in entrepreneurship with social economy formulas will be formally recognised. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that entrepreneurship training using the SE methodology will be incorporated into university curricula.
In the ongoing effort to promote entrepreneurship among young people and other groups facing challenges in securing employment, lines of action 15 and 16 have been developed. These lines of action focus on promoting equal opportunities for groups facing difficulties in accessing employment, such as young people with no professional training or experience, and on facilitating generational change in the SE sector, respectively.
The manuals are of public interest, as their dissemination is an effective tool to achieve greater momentum, promotion, knowledge and development of the responsible social enterprise model. The dissemination of this knowledge will equip students with the necessary understanding of sustainable and inclusive economic development, the promotion of local development, the rooting of the population, and the fundamental principles that underpin the management of social enterprises.
